SINGLE SOURCE CATEGORY (Check applicable box, attach documentation or provide explanation below.)
Maricopa County Procurement Code MCI-351 states: "Single source" means an acquisition where, competition is impractical because
of standardization, warranty, or other factors as approved by the Board of Supervisors.
NOTE: The following are unlikely to be sufficient single source justifications:
• Personal or agency preference for a product or vendor
• Agency perception that the vendor is the best qualified (this should be determined through a competitive process)
• Lack of agency planning resulting in limited time to conduct a competitive procurement
• Special incentive or deal offered (can be assessed in open and competitive solicitation)
• Agency convenience

THIS PROCURMENT IS A SINGLE SOURCE BECAUSE (attach additional page if needed):
Deutsch Architecture Group was intimately involved in the initial Juvenile Detention Food Services
Assessment, and completed the schematic design as part of their initial scope. This is a critical
procurement because the current Juvenile Detention food preparation and delivery system is
obsolete and maintenance items are difficult to obtain. Deutsch Architecture Group is intimately
familiar with the physical facility requirements and constraints as well as the specific equipment and
technology needed for this project. Based upon their work on the initial assessment, they have an in-
depth understanding of the operational needs and challenges faced by the End User.

Describe the search from above in detail:
Deutsch Architecture Group has been involved in the initial assessment and has developed the
schematic design. There are many technical and operational issues that they are familiar with that a
different design professional would have to learn. A different design professional would have to start
over from the beginning and the effort and expenditures to date would be mostly wasted.
