Re: Notice of Termination of Intergovernmental Agreement between Maricopa County and Isaac, School
District regarding Rewarding Excellence in Instruction and Leadership—REIL Teacher Incentive Fund
Recovery Program Act CFDA #84.385A.
Dear Dr.Ventura,
Maricopa County Education Service Agency (MCESA) is delivering written notice of the intent to terminate the
Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA") between Maricopa County and Isaac Elementary School District #5, dated
November 17, 2010. Marieopa County will formalize this intent to terminate the IGA at its May 7 th, 2014 Board of
Supervisors meeting. This IGA outlined the responsibilities of each partner regarding implementation of the
Rewarding Excellence in Instruction and Leadership (REEL) program. Isaac Elementary School District has been
unable to maintain all of its responsibilities and commitments to support successful implementation of REM program
goals, objectives, activities, and program evaluation as required in Section 5.0: Responsibilities of Isaac Elementary
School District (ISD). As a result, MCESA is employing Section 7.0, Subsection 7.3 of this IGA with an official
termination date of June 30, 2014.
Rewarding Excellence in Instruction and Leadership, a US Department of Education Teacher Incentive Fund program,
is a systemic education reform focused on improving teacher and principal effectiveness resulting in increased student
academic progress and achievement so that students graduate college- and career-ready. Eligible ISD teachers and
principals will still receive 5Y2013-14 performance awards according to the fall 2014 pay-out calendar, pending
completion of required data collection and submission.
MCESA must grant express written permission to ISD should ISD utilize any education components, content, or re-
configuration of any documents of the REIL systems beyond the established termination date.
We wish you the very best with your efforts towards ensuring teacher and principal success on behalf of all the
students you serve.
Very truly yours,
-ZG-;
