Jefferson, 10th Floor and safe communities” Phoenix, AZ 85003 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The Board of Supervisors of Maricopa County, Phoenix, Arizona, convened in Special Session at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2014, in the Supervisors' Conference Room, 301 W. Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003, with the following members present: Mary Rose Wilcox, Chairperson, District 5; Steve Chucri, District 2 (via phone); Andrew Kunasek, District 3 (via phone); Clint Hickman, District 4 (via phone). Absent: Denny Barney, District 1. Also present: Fran McCarroll, Clerk of the Board: Shirley Million and Lori Medaris, Minutes Coordinators: Sandi Wilson, Deputy County Manager; and David Neiderdeppe, Legal Counsel. Board Action 1. APPOINT CITIZENS' COMMITTEE REGARDING VACANCY IN LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 27 Pursuant to ARS 41-1202(B), appoint the following people to a citizens’ panel to submit to the Board of Supervisors the names of three qualified electors who are members of the Democratic party and residents of Legislative District 27 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Ruben Gallego. Also, designate Susan Avelar as the Secretary/Liaison for the Citizens' Committee. (C-06-14-344-M-00) Rosie Lopez Susan Avelar Warren Stewart Supervisor Wilcox chaired this meeting for those members who phoned in - Supervisors Kunasek, Chucri and Hickman. Supervisor Wilcox offered the following three names as the Citizen’s Committee: Rosie Lopez, Precinct Committeeman, Warren Stewart, minister and Susan Avelar, interested citizen. Applications to fill the legislative vacancy in District 27 will be submitted to the Clerk’s Office by noon on Wednesday, March 19, and reviewed by the Committee Wednesday afternoon. Applicants will be interviewed Thursday, March 20, and preferences will be sent to the Board of Supervisors later that day. A special Board meeting may be held Friday, March 21, to make the appointment to fill the vacancy.
