PROCLAMATION MARICOPA COUNTY Fair Housing Month April 2014 WHEREAS, The Civil Rights Act of 1968 (The Fair Housing Act) and the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 ensure full and fair access to housing opportunity; and WHEREAS, shelter is a basic human need and when shelter is denied, the quality of human life is greatly diminished; and WHEREAS, people must not be denied equal access to and enjoyment of housing because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability or familial status; and WHEREAS, Maricopa County recognizes and values the efforts of those who seek to identify and eliminate barriers to full and fair housing opportunity; and WHEREAS, April is designated as Fair Housing Month; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim the month of April as FAIR HOUSING MONTH in our own communities.
