Report to the Board of Supervisors Prepared by the Maricopa County Planning and Development Department Board Hearing Date: March 12, 2014 Item: Proposed Street Name Change Vista Verde Drive to Tegavah Place Supervisor District: 2 Description: This item proposes to change the name of a Vista Verde Drive to Tegavah Place, within the master-planned community of Vista Verde. The street name change is due to new ownership with a proposal to rebrand and rename the master-planned community as Tegavah. The change will only affect parcels within the master-planned community which are owned by the developer, Vista Verde 2013 LLC, who has requested the street name change. Affected sections include Section 25 and the East Half of Section 26 of T5N, R6E in the Rio Verde Foothills area. Evaluation: The roadway alignment is a meandering loop that acts as a collector route providing access from the master-planned community’s internal street network onto Rio Verde Dr. It is appropriate for E-911 and emergency response that this roadway to carry the name of the community for which it provides the only access. Notification was unnecessary as all affected properties are owned by the applicant. The proposed street name was routed to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), E-911, the Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Elections, Rural/Metro Fire Department (RMFD), Rio Verde Fire District (RVFD), Salt River Project (SRP), and the Postal Service (USPS). MCSO, RVFD and E-911 have no objections or concerns. SRP has taken issue with the use of the directional suffix – N. Tegavah Pl. East & N. Tegavah Pl. West. However this directional suffix is necessary because the roadway is a loop that intersects with Rio Verde Dr. in two separate locations, and is predominantly N/S in direction rather than E/W. The Maricopa County Addressing Regulations, Sec. 704 indicates that partial circles (loops) are named and addressed based upon the N/S grid using suffix directional based upon quadrant – N. Tegavah Pl. East & N. Tegavah Pl. West.
