There are two main reasons for this: 1) fewer clients have been served than projected, and 2) the program's design maximizes the use of other funding. It was estimated that 75 females would be served during the two-year project period. As of June 30, 2012, only 43 females had received services. The low number of participants can be attributed to a number of reasons: the number of eligible females released from prison can vary significantly from month-to-month, some females have a recent history of assaultive behavior which precludes participation in the grant program, and more females than anticipated request to reside out of the supervising county or state. Grant funds have been used successfully to make treatment accessible and to provide continuity in treatment services for eligible females returning to the community from prison. By design, the program uses grant funding to fill funding gaps, which are minimized through efforts to increase access to other funding sources. The response from participants has been overwhelming positive and all partners are committed to extending their collaboration through a grant extension. The requested grant extension will enable at least another 20 females to participate in the program to receive much needed services. Grant expenditures have been averaging $6,000 per month. At that rate, grant funds would more than cover an additional 12 months of program services beyond the current end date for the project. ~ [ ~ ~ ~ I ~ [ ~ I A Force for Positive 11111 CHANGE.
