Jefferson, 10th floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003, with the following members present: Denny Barney, District 1; Steve Chucri, District 2; Clint Hickman, District 4; Mary Rose Wilcox, District 5. Andrew Kunasek, Chairman, District 3. Also present: Fran McCarroll, Clerk of the Board; Tom Manos, County Manager; and David Benton, Legal Counsel. EXECUTIVE SESSION Vote to convene in Executive Session to consider the items on the Special Executive Agenda dated July 17, 2013, for Board of Supervisors and relevant Special Districts pursuant to the statutory authority listed for each item. Motion to approve by Supervisor Barney, seconded by Supervisor Chucri Ayes: Barney, Chucri, Hickman, Wilcox, Kunasek RECESS The Chairman recessed the Special Meeting Open Session for the Board to reconvene in Executive Session. RECONVENE Chairman Kunasek was not present when the meeting reconvened in Open session and would not return to the meeting. Supervisor Barney was the Acting Chairman for this portion of the meeting. Sheriff Special Meeting Minutes Wednesday, July 17, 2013 Page 2 of 4 2. SALARY ADJUSTMENT Approve an adjustment to the salary of Chief Deputy Sheriff Gerard A. Sheridan as recommended by Sheriff Joseph M. Arpaio effective July 8, 2013. This item was discussed in executive session on July 17, 2013. (C-50-14-002-M-00) The Clerk announced that this item would be moved to the August 7, 2013, agenda. County Attorney 3. MARICOPA COUNTY V. SOUTHEAST CORNER, LLC, ET AL, CV2012-007772 Consider a settlement of Maricopa County v. Southeast Corner, LLC, et al, CV2012- 007772, as just compensation for the property acquired in this case. This matter was heard in Executive Session on July 17, 2013. (C-19-14-001-M-00) Motion to approve a settlement of Maricopa County v. Southeast Corner, LLC, in the amount of $420,000 plus statutory interest as just compensation for the property acquired in this case, by Supervisor Chucri, seconded by Supervisor Hickman Ayes: Barney, Chucri, Hickman, Wilcox Absent: Kunasek Risk Management 4. CONSIDERATION OF FILING AN OFFER OF JUDGMENT IN CIELO TEN BODEN VS. MARICOPA COUNTY AND SHERIFF JOSEPH ARPAIO Consider filing of an Offer of Judgment in Cielo Ten Boden vs. Maricopa County and Sheriff Joseph Arpaio C2011-012488. This matter was discussed in executive session July 17, 2013. (C-75-14-001-2-00) Motion to approve the filing of an Offer of Judgment in the amount of $300,000 in Cielo Ten Boden v. Maricopa County and Sheriff Joseph Arpaio by Supervisor Wilcox, seconded by Supervisor Chucri. Hutchinson, CV2012-051809, in the Maricopa County Superior Court, for real property taken. This item was discussed in executive session on July 17, 2013. (C-69-14-001-S-00) Motion to approve the settlement of a condemnation action in Flood Control District of Maricopa County v. Kenneth A. Hutchinson, CV2012-051809 in the Maricopa County Superior Court in the amount of $8,000 for real property taken plus statutory interest until paid, and authorize the Chairman to sign documents, if any, by Director Hickman, seconded by Director Chucri Ayes: Barney, Chucri, Hickman, Wilcox Absent: Kunasek MEETING ADJOURNED There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
