Report to the Board of Directors Prepared by the Flood Control District of Maricopa County Title: Sonoqui Wash Channelization Project Phase II / Riggs Road Bridge at Sonoqui Wash Document Number: FCD 2010A004A Amendment No. 2 Board Meeting Date: Date Advisory Board Date: Not Applicable Supervisor Districts: 1 Request: Amendment No. 2 to Intergovernmental Agreement FCD2010A004 with Maricopa County Department of Transportation (County) for the Riggs Road Bridge at Sonoqui Wash for construction management funding and maintenance responsibilities. Discussion: The District completed the Queen Creek and Sonoqui Wash Hydraulic Master Plan in 2000 that indicated that the most feasible solution to contain the breakouts from Sonoqui Wash was to increase the conveyance cross-section to contain the 100-year flood flows. The Sonoqui Wash Channelization Project Phase II accomplishes the second phase of improvements to the wash. The Riggs Road Bridge provides a vital element of the Channel Project and was built under a combined contract with the Channel to avoid throwaway costs of a low flow crossing. The Channel Project included installation of a channel crossing at 203rd Place and construction of Marsh Road and the Marsh Road box culvert that will be accepted by the County into its maintenance system. The County provided construction management services for the bridge as well as those items to be accepted into its maintenance system. The IGA required the subject amendment to authorize the District to credit the County for construction management for the non-bridge items and to establish maintenance responsibilities for the Marsh Road box culvert. Previous Board Actions: The Board of Directors approved Resolution FCD 2001R001 on March 21, 2001 (C-69-01-061-6-00). IGA FCD 2010A004 was approved on October 25, 2010 (C-69-11-013-3-00). IGA FCD 2010A004A Amendment No. 1 was approved on May 12, 2011 (C-69-11-013-3-01, C-91-11-042-M-01).
