Arizona Science Center respectfully requests funding in the amount of $100,000 to support the delivery
of Hands-On Science Programs for Low-Income Youth in Title-I schools in Maricopa County. The
proposed program, which will be offered at no cost to participating school children and teachers, will
feature field trips to Arizona Science Center (Focused Field Trips), educator training for teachers bringing
youth on field trips, outreach workshops delivered directly to classrooms throughout the district
(Science on Wheels), and standards-based, curriculum-enhancing educator resources that will better
prepare teachers to deliver informal, extra-curricular science programs. We will serve 7,500 low-income
youth in grades K-8 who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the programs and
resources of Arizona Science Center.
