Funding will support the increased demand for services for women who are HIV-positive or at risk for HIV. In November 2012, upon being awarded $3.5 million from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, combined with $3.6 million in previously awarded City of Phoenix bond funds, Southwest Center's board of directors adopted plans to launch the $10.1 million We Are Here campaign. Private funds will support the build out and renovation of a 50,000 square foot facility in Phoenix's city center and the expansion of six service areas in great demand. Funding from SRPMIC will support three of these areas: 1) HIV testing and connection to healthcare, 2) behavioral health, and 3) integrated, collaborative care. Specifically, funding will: • Increase prevention education and testing for high-risk women, including minorities. • Link women who test positive to services, including Southwest Center's Lunch N Learn educational support groups. • Increase and enhance behavioral health care for HIV-positive women while emphasizing the importance of integrating primary medical care with behavioral health services. A care coordinator will help ensure behavioral health patients receive individualized attention and care that includes guidance through the new Affordable Care Act process for medical care, nutrition support, smoking cessation and/or exercise programs, and coordination between the patient's myriad providers, including doctors.
