Meeting Minutes Chandler Museum Foundation Strategic Planning Subcommittee Regular Meeting February 26, 2024 | 5:30 p.m. Chandler Museum, Saguaro Room 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Joan Clark at 5:47 p.m. Roll Call Board Member Attendance Staff Attendance Barbara Meyerson Jody Crago, Museum Manager Brenda Abney Martin Sepulveda Tom Escobedo Absent Joan Clark, Chair Scheduled and Unscheduled Public Appearances None Consent Agenda 1. January 2024 Museum Foundation Strategic Planning Subcommittee Meeting Minutes Brenda Abney made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from January 22, 2024. Tom Escobedo seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously (4-0). The minutes were approved as written. Action Agenda 2. Recommend Approval of Chandler Museum Foundation Strategic Plan Brenda Abney made a motion to approve the Chandler Museum Foundation Strategic Plan. Martin Sepulveda seconded the amended motion. Motion carried unanimously (4- 0). Barbara Meyerson commended Joan Clark for the work and time dedicated to gathering all the information from various meetings and compiling the data into a comprehensive strategic plan. The approved Chandler Museum Foundation Strategic Board will be presented to the Executive Subcommittee for review and approval then to the full board for approval. Briefing 3. Discuss Formation of a Finance Subcommittee to Lead Implementation of the Museum Foundation Fundraising Goal Some of the areas to be overseen by the Finance Subcommittee will be: o Part 3 of the Strategic Plan o Membership o Earned Income o Budget o Fundraising o Spending Policy Discussion ensued on when subcommittees meet. At the present time, there is a meeting every week. With the addition of a new subcommittee, staggering some to meet less often will be needed due to limited staffing support for boards and subcommittees. Discussion ensued to have a community member on this subcommittee. o The Finance Subcommittee will consist of board members at the beginning, with the option to invite community members to join the subcommittee. o The Charter will include verbiage to show community members can serve on the Finance Subcommittee. Member Comments Barbara Meyerson mentioned that the Chandler Cultural Foundation has recently applied to make Steena Murray an honoree trustee. Meyerson inquired if the Museum Foundation should consider something similar in the future. Member Announcements Page 2 of 3 Martin Sepulveda announced the Silk Stocking Neighborhood has finally received its historic designation. The Strategic Planning Subcommittee scheduled for March 25th has been cancelled. NOTE: At a later time, the April 22nd Strategic Planning Subcommittee Meeting was also cancelled in lieu of the event “Podcast and Reception: Harnessing the Economic Power of the Arts.” Officer terms are for two years. Elections are coming this May 2024 Calendar 4. Next Strategic Planning Subcommittee Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., at the Chandler Museum.
