REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

ACTION:  Approve the utilization of an eleven-month Maricopa County contract with AM Signal, LLC, 
for the supply of intersection cameras, intelligent transportation system (ITS) devices, and 
communication equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT:  The total cost of the contract will not exceed $120,000.  Sufficient funds have been 
appropriated in the Traffic Signals CIP Project 6911699 (Traffic Signal CCTV Updates) for the 
anticipated expenditures during the current fiscal year and next fiscal year, contingent upon City Council 
approval of the City’s annual budget.
RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the contract utilization.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:  (230200-C-1) Maricopa County solicited and awarded a Strategic 
Alliance for Volume Expenditures (SAVE) cooperative contract for intelligent transportation system (ITS) 
devices and communications equipment. AM Signal provides a host of transit related equipment, 
including intersection cameras (CCTV), electrical conductors, fiber optic cable and equipment, closed 
circuit television, radio communications equipment, cellular routers, adaptive signal control technology 
(ASCT) equipment, traffic data collection equipment, connected vehicle equipment and network 
equipment. 
Maricopa County utilized a competitive bid process that established unit pricing for specific line items for 
categories of intelligent transportation system devices and communications equipment and discounts 
off catalog pricing for additional equipment offered by the contractors.
