RESOLUTION NO. R2026.08
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY 
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PURCHASE AND SALE 
AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE OWNERSHIP OF IMPROVED 
PROPERTIES AT THE ADDRESSES OF 520 AND 526 
SOUTH MILL AVENUE IN TEMPE, ARIZONA.
WHEREAS, the City desires to acquire improved property located in Tempe at 520 and 
526 South Mill Avenue (the “Properties”);
WHEREAS, the Properties have been identified as ideal Historic Buildings within the 
downtown core;
WHEREAS, the City wishes to prioritize efforts to accelerate the acquisition of improved 
historic properties to support historic preservation goals;
WHEREAS, the City desires to acquire the Properties to preserve the historic buildings 
from future redevelopment that would be inconsistent with their historic character.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
TEMPE, ARIZONA, as follows:
Section 1: The City Manager or designee is authorized to negotiate a purchase and sale     
agreement for the Properties at a price not to exceed that directed by the City Council.
Section 2: The City Manager or designee is authorized to execute agreements required to 
complete the acquisition of the Properties at a price not to exceed the fair market value of each 
property or the amount directed by the City Council.
Section 3:  At her discretion, the City Manager may execute one or more agreements to 
acquire each of the Properties individually or multiple properties collectively as may be deemed 
in the best interests of the City and consistent with Section 2 above.
Section 4:  The City Manager or designee is further authorized to execute any further 
documents and take such further actions as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this 
Resolution.
