WORK SESSION PRESENTATION
 
1.
Parks and Recreation Master Plan & City of El Mirage 75th Anniversary Celebration Updates
(Parks & Recreation)
Crystal Dyches, City Manager, thanked the Mayor and Council for attending the Council Work
Session to receive an update on the Parks Master Plan and the Parks and Recreation Department. 
Sean VonRoenn, Parks and Recreation Director, introduced Farrell Buller, Project Lead, with
110% Consulting, to discuss the current status of the Parks Master Plan project. Ms. Buller gave
an overview of the first site visit conducted several months ago, a survey update, a future site
visit planned for June 25-26, 2025, and the project time. Items discussed were planning
sessions, a focus group meeting with the community, and interviews conducted during the
visits. Discussion surrounded the community survey, the results of the survey, a community
workshop with questions and answers, as well as the methodology on which the survey was
conducted. Ms. Buller outlined some of the questions asked during the community workshop
and highlighted  the common themes, which included: issues relating to public safety,
accessibility and inclusion, community engagement and gathering, youth and family services,
and park maintenance to increase usage. An event will be held on June 25-26 at the El Mirage
Senior Center called Pops & Parks to collect additional information from the community. Ms.
Buller ended her presentation by discussing the project timeline. The plan is scheduled to be
complete by November 2025. 
Mr. VonRoenn gave an update on the Parks and Recreation Department. He outlined the
administrative updates for fiscal year 2026, El Mirage Park updates, Senior Services Division
Updates, Special Events Updates, 75th Anniversary Planning, and unveiled the new El Mirage
Logo to be used during the 75th Anniversary Celebration Activities.
Council discussion included the different locations the consultant visited, locations for
increased participation by El Mirage residents for surveys, the methodology in which surveys
are conducted nationwide and a request for data to be sent to council members.
