PROCLAMATION 
Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life Moth
January 2022
WHEREAS, the Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life movement presents an ideal opportunity to help 
bridge the gap between our local community, government, and law enforcement in a positive way; and
WHEREAS, by teaching students in local schools to identify and report warning signs and cries for 
help – whether at school, after school, or on social media – we can prevent unnecessary tragedies and make 
our community safer for every child. 
WHEREAS, the Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life campaign educates and empowers youth to report 
concerning behavior, posts, comments, or other indicators of distress to school representatives, law 
enforcement, or other authority figures who can help; and
WHEREAS, more than 10,000 Arizona students from 169 public, charter, private and tribal schools 
have learned the message and created student-led impact projects in their schools and communities that 
have impacted over 500,000 youth in the state of Arizona.; and 
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of El Mirage proclaims the month of January to be Speak Up, Stand 
Up, Save a Life Month.  Arizona schools, students, parents, educators, police departments, and community 
organizations are encouraged to coordinate in a variety of awareness and prevention activities designed to 
make our communities safer for all children and adolescents.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I, Mayor Alexis A. Hermosillo, have hereunto set my hand and cause 
the Seal of the City of El Mirage to be affixed this 20th day of January 2022.
