SUBJECT: Arrowhead Pump & Supply Purchase Order Request
DATE: February 15, 2022

The Utilities division has requested a purchase order for the replacement of the Brisas Lift
Station sewage centrifugal pumps (2) through sole source representative Arrowhead Pump and
Supply. The request contains expenses for replacement of two submersible pumps not able to
properly pump the amount of non-disposable wipes, rags and clothing being flushed into our
city’s sewer system.

Over the past three months pump plugs and failures has caused an increase in staff overtime and
emergency pump repair costs. The new Vaughan “chopper” style pumps are designed to
shred/pump non-disposable wipes, rags, and clothing. Equipping our lift station with the new
“chopper” style pumps will also reduce staff overtime and emergency pump repairs.

Please let this memo serve as notification of the intent of this purchase order request. Sufficient
funds exist in the Collections budget to cover this expense
