RESOLUTION R22-05-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL MIRAGE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE DYSART UNIFIED PUBLIC SCHOOL No. 89 DISTRICT FOR THE PROVISION OF SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER SERVICES AT DYSART HIGH SCHOOL AND DYSART MIDDLE SCHOOL WHEREAS, the parties are authorized to enter into this Agreement under Arizona Revised Statutes § 11-952. The District is authorized to enter into this Agreement under A.R.S. § 15-342. The City of El Mirage is authorized to enter into this Agreement under A.R.S. § 41- 2632, as well as other statutes and regulations and the ordinances of the City of El Mirage; and, WHEREAS, the City of El Mirage “City” and the Dysart Unified School District “District” desire to enter into an intergovernmental agreement for the purpose of providing a Police Officer to serve as a School Resource Officer “SRO” at both Dysart High School and Dysart Middle School; and, WHEREAS, the City and the District each recognize the value in cooperating to provide a consistent and visible law enforcement presence in schools; and, WHEREAS, such programs are recognized as being effective in the development of a positive relationship between law enforcement agencies and young people and in the prevention of juvenile crime. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of El Mirage: Section 1: The Intergovernmental Agreement with Dysart Unified School District relating to School Resource Officer services for Dysart High School and Dysart Middle School (the “Agreement”) is hereby approved in substantially the form and substance attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference. Section 2: The Mayor, City Manager, City Clerk and City Attorney are hereby authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to cause the execution of the Agreement and to take all steps necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution.
