This includes proximity to the park, walking area, and the beauty of the view we currently enjoy. Is there any way that I can influence the city to reject this plan? My concerns are the added traffic in and around sundial IV , the possible increase in crime , litter , dust and noise. Who will pay for the extension of Cactus Rd ? The city is and has already failed to maintain areas of responsibility an example would be the access to the river bed off of Grand Av, the ability to patrol the riverbed , dust control on the paper street that borders the west side of Sundial IV and the golf course , the strip of land that goes from the west corner of Sundial IV along cactus Rd to the golf course entrance. The request by the owners/ builders to redefine the master plan of the city. Just a few of the concerns I and many of my neighbors have . I purchased my home with the belief that nothing would be built behind it since it is on the floodplain wash. In the years I've enjoyed living in my house and neighborhood (since 2011) I've been able to transform my backyard into a small sanctuary with trees and shrubs to keep it aesthetic as well as provide a small oasis for the many birds and animals that now visit my yard providing me with some solace and peace after a days work. Additionally I enjoy walking in the wash for exercise, as do many other people, its also nice to hear the coyotes yipping at night and it reminds me of my childhood at my grandfather's ranch in Colorado. Those days are long gone now, but the memories remain, and even a subtle reminder brings a sense of peace to me. I do enjoy hearing and seeing the numerous quail and ground squirrels that sit on my fence and come to my feeders throughout the day. I dont like the idea of having a storage facility behind me, please keep it wilderness, theres too much peace and quiet at stake. I am not a fan of random crime either, I think having a storage facility in an area such as the wash would attract burglars and random criminals who would like to break into said facility for the purpose of their own gain, who's to say that they wouldn't target the many homes that line the west side of the wash? In closing I would really like to express my desire NOT to have this facility built behind our neighborhood. Its not going to benefit our community at all.. I am emailing because I am against the addition of the RV and Boat Storage proposal. I live on Paradise Dr. which is two blocks from the proposed site. Although our subdivision is very quiet, the intersection of Cactus and Main Street gets very busy. This is especially true to the morning work hours, the time of school start and end, and the time when everyone is coming home. I am concerned about the increased traffic that is going to be caused by an already high use intersection. Also, our children walk to school and to catch the school bus. The increased traffic poses a threat to the safety of our babies. I am totally against that. Lastly, the idea of creating a commercial use for multiple people to come into our neighborhood seems unsafe. There is ample property further up Main Street that is near the already business industrialized part of our neighborhood. Why disrupt the residential section unnecessarily. I am requesting a revisit to the proposed application and land use. I am not in favor of the eminent danger posed by the plan being considered. Thank you for hearing my stance on the matter. It is wasteful, destructive, unnecessary and unappealing. While new business is always a boon for a growing city, let's be mindful of what kind of businesses will help us grow our city into a place we want to call home. I do not believe another storage facility will provide that, neither for our citizens nor our city. I invite developers to encourage more locally owned businesses by creating aesthetically pleasing restaurants, office spaces, book or toy stores, entertainment centers and health facilities... Or, I encourage businesses to simply utilize what has already been built, yet sits empty year after year. Do not needlessly destroy a beautiful natural landscape simply for the sake of being destructive. Thank you for listening and supporting the community in our desire to HALT the construction of a storage facility in the Sundial West IV neighborhood. Especially since the customers would have to use residential streets to gain entrance to the facility. How about the fact of increase traffic in a residential area with children. The streets are also narrow and if some one has guests and parks on either one side or both sides of the street the RV's will not be able to gain access to the facility. It was my understanding that a YMCA would be built, and I was happy to cast a vote for the new Police facilities that were built at roughly at the same time. Flood control work was completed near the intersection of Cactus and El Mirage, and El Mirage Road is looking a lot better - along with Thunderbird. All in all, I thought we were making great progress. Until I heard of the proposed storage facility. Its bad enough that a storage facility was built in old El Mirage - not something I would have wanted. But to see this expand, dragging El Mirage back into an "industrial" community rather than the neighborhood of residential homes is disheartening. Not only would this build storage, this would also remove recreational value from our community. That area is a riverbed. We may be in drought, but I assure you it is a riverbed and water will run there sooner or later. We purchased our homes believing that area would be reserved as "wild land" for recreational purposes and the master plan seemed to confirm this idea. Whether hiking, or just out walking the dogs, that area has recreational value. Now we simply want to abide by the master plan. There is lots of desert land, located further from homes and populated recreational areas that would be better suited for the storage facility and probably cheaper to insure if its not built in a riverbed. Please reject the amendment. I strongly oppose this development. There are many reasons for my opposition, enumerated in the letter you received from our attorneys office. This development will adversely affect our neighborhood. Property values, safety, and image of our community. These will all be negatively affected. I have spoken with many residents, gone door to door to collect signatures opposing this development and the majority of the residents are against this proposal. Such actions are not acceptable to the people who live in the area or the citizens of El Mirage as a whole. This action, if followed through, will reduce property values, hinder ease of access to homes in the area due to increased traffic. Increase risk and danger to children attending school in the area and be harmful to wildlife and fauna in the river bed itself. The fact that there was no public or significant effort made to announce this quite clearly shows that it was done knowing that the citizenry of El Mirage would not approve of such an action. I strongly urge you to reconsider this poor course of action.
