RESOLUTION R24-02-04 
 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL 
MIRAGE, ARIZONA, AND HOUSING AUTHORITY OF MARICOPA COUNTY 
TO ADDRESS AFFORDABLE HOUSING. 
   
 
 
WHEREAS, City Council recognizes that affordable housing in El Mirage is necessary; 
and  
 
WHEREAS, There is within the City of El Mirage a shortage of affordable housing and 
the City of El Mirage exercises all its power and authority granted to it in Title 36, Chapter 12 of 
the Arizona Revised Statutes, including, but not limited to facilitating federal, state, and local 
grants, loans, and other available funds to assist in the provision of adequate housing for its 
residents; and  
 
WHEREAS, the City of El Mirage has identified affordable housing as a beneficial use of 
State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF); and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of El Mirage would like to partner with the Housing Authority of 
Maricopa County to provide high-quality, affordable housing to low, and extremely low, income 
families and seniors; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Maricopa County is redeveloping their older 
existing properties; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Maricopa County has requested support for the 
project and for the City of El Mirage to provide $500,000 of SLFRF funding. 
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of El 
Mirage, Arizona as follows: 
 
The Mayor or her designee is authorized to enter into, and sign, any commitment, 
agreement, or other documents necessary, to provide support and funding to redevelop the Housing 
Authority of Maricopa County property commonly referred to as the Flora Statler Community.
