McMicken Irrigation District – Cancellation of Election 
Dear Ms. Medaris: 
 
As you are aware, if an election that is to be held pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes Title 15, Title 
48 or § 16-822, and the total number of persons who file a nomination petition for a candidate and the number 
of persons who file a nomination paper for a write-in candidate as prescribed by chapter 3, articles 2 and 3 
of this title is less than or equal to the number of positions to be filled at the election for which the nomination 
petition or nomination paper is filed, the County Board of Supervisors may cancel the election.   
 
The final day for candidate nomination papers for the McMicken Irrigation District (the “District”) 
directors’ election was yesterday, July 29, 2025.  As there are two director positions up for election this year, 
and only one candidate petition was filed for each position, the District hereby requests that the Board of 
Supervisors cancel the November 12, 2025, directors’ election. The District’s Division III Director position 
is up for election this year, and the candidate who filed a nomination paper for that seat is Leyton Woolf.  
The District’s Director-at-Large #1 position is also up for election and R.D. Justice filed a nomination paper 
for that seat.  Copies of their nomination papers are enclosed.   
 
Please place this matter on the agenda for the next formal Board of Supervisors’ meeting, which we 
understand will be on August 20, 2025.
