A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GLENDALE,
MARICOPA
COUNTY,
ARIZONA,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ENTERING INTO OF
AN
INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT
WITH
THE
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (IGA 20-
0008038-I) FOR THE ADAPTIVE TRAFFIC SIGNALS NEAR
STATE FARM STADIUM IN THE CITY OF GLENDALE.
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale, together with several other cities, participate in and use
Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies for managing traffic;
WHEREAS, the Adaptive Signal Control Technology (ASCT) has been identified as an
important ITS tool to improve traffic signal timing adjustments, reduce delays and travel times, thereby
reducing vehicle emissions; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Loop 101 Mobility Regional Project, the City of Glendale has been
awarded federal grant of $550,00.00 to install ASCT at up to twenty-one (21) intersections in and
around State Farm Stadium to improve traffic flow during events at the Stadium and Gila River Arena.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Glendale and the citizens
thereof that the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Arizona Department of Transportation for the
Adaptive Traffic Signals near State Farm Stadium in the City of Glendale (20-0008038-I) be entered
into, which agreement is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Glendale.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk be authorized and
directed to execute and deliver any and all documents necessary to effectuate said Agreement on behalf
of the City of Glendale.
