RESOLUTION NO. R21-63 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ENTERING INTO OF AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH GLENDALE UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS. WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted Resolution No. 18-92, which authorized and directed the City Manager to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (“IGA”) with the Glendale Union High School District (“GUHSD”) for the assignment of one police officer at Apollo High School, one police officer at Glendale High School, and one police officer at Independence High School during the school year; and WHEREAS, the IGA had an initial one-year term for each high school beginning August 6, 2018 and ending May 22, 2019, and provided the option to be extended for up to three (3) additional school years in one-year terms; and WHEREAS, the City and GUHSD have entered into two (2) contract extensions for school years 2019-20 and 2020-21; and WHEREAS, the City and GUHSD wish to extend the IGA for school year 2021-22, beginning August 9, 2021 and ending May 25, 2022; and WHEREAS, the City and GUHSD wish to remove all references to Glendale High School. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows: SECTION 1. That it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Glendale and the citizens thereof that the IGA with GUHSD for the assignment of school resource officers be amended as provided in Amendment No. 1. SECTION 2. That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute and deliver said agreement on behalf of the City of Glendale.
