RESOLUTION NO. R21-51 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
GLENDALE, 
MARICOPA 
COUNTY, 
ARIZONA, 
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ENTERING INTO OF 
AN 
INTERGOVERNMENTAL 
AGREEMENT 
WITH 
THE 
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (IGA 21-
0008115-I) FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SMART DETECTION 
SYSTEMS AT APPROXIMATELY 20 LOCATIONS ALONG 
GLENDALE AVENUE. 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale, together with other cities in the Valley use the Intelligent 
Transportation System (“ITS”) technologies for managing traffic; and  
 
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale applied for, and was awarded a federal grant to install 
additional smart-traffic detection systems at up to twenty (20) signaled intersections on Glendale 
Avenue to improve traffic flow and reduce delay.  The City will be responsible for $70,841 of the 
Project. 
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows: 
 
SECTION 1.  That it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Glendale and the citizens 
thereof that the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Arizona Department of Transportation (IGA 21-
0008115-I) for the installation of smart detection systems at approximately 20 locations along Glendale 
Avenue be entered into, which agreement is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of 
Glendale.  
 
SECTION 2.  That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk are authorized and 
directed to execute and deliver any and all documents necessary to effectuate said Agreement on behalf 
of the City of Glendale.
