RESOLUTION NO. 21-74
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, ADOPTING
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE GOVERNMENT
SERVICES COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the Glendale City Council established the Government Services Committee prior
to November 1988; and
WHEREAS, there is no record of the Glendale City Council taking formal action to establish
the Government Services Committee’s duties and responsibilities.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows:
SECTION 1. That the duties and responsibilities of the Government Services Committee are
as follow:
The Government Services Committee will be responsible for reviewing the applications of
residents recommended for appointment by a Councilmember to boards, commission and other
bodies and making recommendations to the full Council. The Government Services Committee
will also make recommendations for chairs and vice chairs for each board or commission.
The Government Services Committee will review alleged inappropriate behavior of board or
commission members. If inappropriate behavior is found to have occurred, the Chair of the
Government Services Committee will communicate to the Councilmember who appointed the
member to allow the Councilmember to counsel the member. If the inappropriate behavior
continues, the Government Services Committee will bring the matter to the attention of the
Council and the individual will be subject to removal.
The Government Services Committee will also consider, make recommendations and take
action on matters relating to the City’s boards, commissions and committees, to include but not
limited to: number and eligibility of members, meeting dates and times, bylaws, policies and
procedures, quorum calculations, term extensions, dissolutions and other duties as assigned by
Council.
