STATUTORY PUBLICATION REQUIREMENTS REQUIREMENTS 2 A.R.S. REQUIREMENTS: 9-812 Publication of notices and ordinances A. Notices of election, invitations for bids, notices of letting contracts, laws and ordinances, and other notices of a public character issued by authority of the governing body of any city or town, shall be published in one of the following: 1. A newspaper that is printed and published within the city or town. 2. A newspaper printed and published within the county in which the city or town is located with a greater circulation to residents of the city or town. CITY CHARTER REQUIREMENTS: Article VII, Section 10, Publication of ordinances and resolutions All ordinances, except those necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health or safety of the city, and resolutions having the effect of ordinances, shall be published at least once in the official newspaper of the city before they become effective and operative. OPTIONS 3 The City currently pays approximately $4.99/column inch RESOLUTIONS 4 It has been the City’s practice to publish all adopted resolutions. With a few exceptions, there is no legal requirement to publish resolutions. Resolutions are available on the Clerk’s webpage.
