RESOLUTION NO. R22-02 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE 2021 MULTI- JURISDICTIONAL MULTI-HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN. WHEREAS, the City of Glendale, Arizona has historically experienced damage from natural hazards such as flooding, wildfire, drought, sever winds, and others on many occasions in the past century, resulting in loss of property and/or life, economic hardship, and threats to public health and safety; and WHEREAS, the 2021 Maricopa County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (“the Plan”) has been developed after more than one year of review, research and update work by the City of Glendale in association and cooperation with the Maricopa County Multi- Jurisdictional Planning Team for the reduction of hazard risk to the community; and WHEREAS, the Plan specifically addresses natural hazard vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies and plan maintenance procedures for the City of Glendale; and WHEREAS, the Plan is an update and replacement for the previous hazard mitigation plan for the City of Glendale that was adopted by Resolution No. 5087 New Series on April 12, 2016; and WHEREAS, the Plan recommends several hazard mitigation actions/projects that will provide mitigation for specific natural hazards that impact the City of Glendale with the effect of protecting people and property from loss associated with those hazards. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows: SECTION 1. That the Maricopa County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for the City of Glendale is hereby adopted and incorporated herein by this reference. Three copies of said plan shall be maintained in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Glendale. SECTION 2. The Plan shall be implemented, monitored and maintained by the officials/staff designated in the Plan for a period of five (5) years with the full support of this Resolution.
