ORDINANCE NO. 
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, AMENDING 
THE GLENDALE CITY CODE, CHAPTER 25 (NUISANCES), 
ARTICLE 
II 
(SPECIFIC 
ACTS, 
OMISSIONS 
AND 
CONDITIONS) SECTION 25-21 (LAND MAINTENANCE)
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows:
SECTION 1.  That Glendale City Code Chapter 25 (Nuisances), Article II (Specific Acts, 
Omissions and Conditions), Section 25-21 (Land Maintenance) is amended and shall read as 
follows:
CITY CODE CHAPTER 25
ARTICLE II.-SPECIFIC ACTS, OMISSIONS AND CONDITIONS
Sec. 25-21.-Land Maintenance.
(g) No person owning or occupying any property shall allow thereon grass or weeds to 
exceed 6” in height. No person owning or occupying and desert landscape property fronting on 
any street, alleyway, or public place in the city including the area between the property line of 
such property and the street shall allow thereon grass or weeds to grow in a manner that such 
conditions create a blighting condition or may harbor infestations or are likely to become a 
hazard to the public health or safety.  Desert landscape property is property that is primarily 
composed of crushed stone, aggregate stone, pavers, and natural desert vegetation.  Furthermore, 
no person owning or occupying any property fronting on any street, alleyway, or public place 
shall allow grass or weeds to grow in sidewalk cracks, curb line openings, or other areas adjacent 
to the property including parking lots that may create a tripping hazard. 
SECTION 2.  Whereas the immediate enforcement of the provisions of this Ordinance 
are necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety in the City of Glendale, 
an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect 
from and after its passage, adoption, and approval by the Mayor and Council.
