PROPOSITION 400 EXTENSION UPDATE
CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING 11/22/2022

• Maricopa County introduced legislation seeking 
authorization to add a 25-year continuation of a ½ cent 
transportation sales tax. 
• Both Senate and House passed the Bill.
• Governor Ducey vetoed the Bill on July 6.

2022 Legislative Summary

• Maricopa Association of Governments have agreed to finish 
projects currently in Proposition 400.
– This includes adding a general-purpose lane in both 
directions of the 101 from 75th Ave to the I-17.
• What does this mean for Glendale?
– A loss of $1.2B in new capital investments for 
freeway and arterial improvements. 
– And $14.4M per year for transit.
