ORDINANCE NO. O22-81
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, AMENDING
THE GLENDALE CITY CODE, CHAPTER 25 (NUISANCES),
SECTION 25-65 (EXEMPTIONS FROM NOISE LEVEL
REGULATIONS) AND SETTING FORTH AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Glendale City Code Chapter 25 (Nuisances), is amended by
adding provisions specifically related to the use of permissible fireworks under Section 25-65
(Exemptions From Noise Level Regulations) as follows;
CITY CODE CHAPTER 25
Sec. 25-65 – Exemption from noise level regulations.
(1) Heating and cooling equipment when it is functioning in accordance with
manufacturer's specifications and is in proper operating condition provided that no unit
may create an excessive, unnecessary or offensive noise causing annoyance or discomfort
to a reasonable person of normal sensitivity within any sleeping or living area inside any
dwelling unit;
(2) Landscape maintenance equipment when it is functioning in accordance with the
manufacturer's specifications and with all mufflers and noise-reducing equipment in use
and in proper operating condition;
(3) Nonamplified crowd noises resulting from activities such as those planned by school,
governmental or community groups, or organized sports;
(4) Noises of safety signals, warning devices and emergency pressure relief valves;
(5) Noises resulting from any authorized emergency vehicle when responding to an
emergency call or acting in time of emergency;
(6) Noises resulting from emergency work as defined in section 25-62;
(7) Noises from the normal operation of railroad trains;
(8) Noises from church chimes;
(9) Power plant equipment during normal operation;
(10) Noise created by any city vehicle, equipment or facility while being operated for
official use;
(11) Operation of agricultural equipment in connection with farming operations;

(12) Any aircraft operated in conformity with, or pursuant to, federal law, federal air
regulations or air traffic control instructions issued pursuant to or within duly adopted
federal air regulations, together with any noise created by aircraft operated under, or
pursuant to, declaration of an emergency under federal air regulations.
(13) Noises from permissible fireworks and their use as defined in Sec. 26-70.3 except
between the hours of 12:30am to 7:00am or the hours of 1:00am to 7:00am only on
January 1st and July 5th of each year.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of
