RESOLUTION NO. R23-105 
  
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, RATIFYING 
THE ACCEPTANCE OF AN AWARD (NO. 15JCOPS-23-GG-
04794-UHPX) FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE 
OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES 
(COPS) IN THE APPROXIMATE AMOUNT OF $1,625,000 
UNDER THE FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ENTITLED “FY23 
COPS HIRING PROGRAM” ON BEHALF OF THE GLENDALE 
POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND AUTHORIZING THE HIRING 
OF THIRTEEN (13) ADDITIONAL POLICE OFFICERS.  
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows: 
 
SECTION 1.  That the City Council of the City of Glendale ratifies the acceptance of an 
award (No. 15JCOPS-23-GG-04794-UHPX) under the “FY23 Cops Hiring Program” in the 
amount of $1,625,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policies 
Services on behalf of the Glendale Police Department. The grant documents are now on file in the 
office of the City Clerk of the City of Glendale.  
 
SECTION 2.  That the City Council of the City of Glendale authorizes the hiring of thirteen 
(13) new full-time officers in accordance with the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Office Hiring 
Program.    
 
 
SECTION 3. That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk are authorized and 
directed to execute any and all documents necessary on behalf of the city of Glendale, retroactive 
to November 14, 2023.
