RESOLUTION NO. R24-22 
 
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
GLENDALE, 
MARICOPA 
COUNTY, 
ARIZONA, 
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO 
EXECUTE AND FILE A MODIFICATION OF DESIGNATION 
OF ASSURED WATER SUPPLY APPLICATION WITH THE 
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES. 
 
 
WHEREAS, the State of Arizona requires all municipal water providers in the Phoenix 
Active Management Area (AMA) to have an Assured Water Supply (AWS) for all subdivided 
lands. The City of Glendale is such a water provider; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale previously received a Designation of Assured Water 
Supply from the Arizona Department of Water Resources in 1997 and 2010. The current 
designation is valid until December 31, 2025; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale’s status as a designated water provider demonstrates a 
long-term perspective in managing water resources; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale’s commitment to sound water management represents a 
major contribution to Arizona’s water management goal of achieving safe-yield in the Phoenix 
AMA; and 
 
WHEREAS, the City of Glendale is required to submit an application to modify the 
designation of assured water supply to increase the term of the designation; and 
 
WHEREAS,  a modified Designation of AWS  demonstrates that the City of Glendale has 
a 100-year water supply for proposed uses and that the city is financially capable of building the 
necessary water production, treatment, and delivery infrastructure.  
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows: 
 
SECTION 1.  That it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Glendale and the citizens 
thereof for the City of Glendale to apply for a modification of the designation of an assured water 
supply. 
 
SECTION 2.  That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk are authorized and 
directed to execute and file a Modification of Designation of Assured Water Supply Application 
with the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
