RESOLUTION NO. R24-76
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GLENDALE,
MARICOPA
COUNTY,
ARIZONA,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE ENTERING INTO OF
AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY
OF GOODYEAR FOR WATER EXCHANGE.
WHEREAS, the Southwestern United States, including the Colorado River watershed
system, has been in a drought for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Arizona’s supplies of Colorado River water have been reduced over the last
three years; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to optimize water usage, increase water transportation
efficiency, and improve the management of costs associated with the delivery of Colorado River
water; and
WHEREAS, the City seeks to enter into an agreement to exchange water from Glendale’s
various types of water supplies, including the Salt River Project (SRP) surface water and recovered
Central Arizona Project (CAP) long-term storage credits, for an equal amount from Goodyear’s
Central Arizona Project Municipal and Industrial water allocation (Goodyear’s CAP water).
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is deemed in the best interest of the City of Glendale and the citizens
thereof for the City of Glendale to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of
Goodyear for water exchange.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager or designee and the City Clerk are authorized and
directed to execute and deliver any and all documents necessary to effectuate said
Intergovernmental Agreement on behalf of the City of Glendale.
