R20-07-15 - General Plan Update

RESOLUTION R20-07-15 
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY 
OF EL MIRAGE SUBMITTING THE APPROVED AND ADOPTED 
GENERAL PLAN UPDATE TO THE VOTERS FOR RATIFICATION 
AT THE NOVEMBER 3, 2020 GENERAL ELECTION. 
 
 
WHEREAS, in accordance with A.R.S. § 9-461.06(C), the Planning and Zoning 
Commission for the City of El Mirage held public hearings on April 8, 2020 and April 
28, 2020, to receive comments from the public regarding the proposed General Plan 
Update for the City of El Mirage; and, 
 
 
WHEREAS, on April 28, 2020, the Planning and Zoning Commission for the 
City of El Mirage unanimously voted to recommend the El Mirage City Council approve 
and adopt the General Plan Update; and, 
 
 
WHEREAS, on May 19, 2020, the City Council held a public hearing to receive 
comments from the public regarding the proposed General Plan Update and approved and 
adopted the General Plan Update for ratification; and,  
 
 
WHEREAS, the times and locations of the public hearings before the El Mirage 
City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission were properly noticed in accordance 
with A.R.S. § 9-461.06(E) and (G). 
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of 
El Mirage, Arizona, that: 
 
 
Section 1:  In accordance with A.R.S. § 9-461.06(M), the City Clerk is hereby 
directed to place on the ballot for the General Election to be held on November 3, 2020 
General Election a request that the voters ratify the General Plan Update for the City of 
El Mirage.  The ballot language shall be in substantially the following form: 
 
State law requires the City of El Mirage submit each new general plan adopted by 
the City Council to the voters for ratification.  The Council for the City of El 
Mirage, at its May 19, 2020 meeting, approved and adopted a new general plan for 
the City of El Mirage.  Shall the General Plan for the City of El Mirage, approved 
and adopted by the City Council on May 19, 2020, be ratified as the new General 
Plan for the City of El Mirage?
