Project Narrative
1.
Artistic quality and creativity of the project.
Describe the project: Name the guest artists and include the number of performances or
events—include detailed timeline.
●
Local Trade AZ’s mission is to showcase Arizona’s artists and artisans by organizing
community events. For this particular project, we are partnering with the City of
Glendale to create “Live @ Murphy Park Music + Makers Market”, a makers market
with over 90 local artisans and musicians in Murphy Park on April 4, 2020 from 11am
to 8pm. We are working in conjunction with the music festival organized by the City
the same evening for the Live! @ Murphy Park concert series.
●
In conjunction with our music consultant, we’re gearing up to host musicians of all
backgrounds during our makers market. We will provide 3 different music stations
with 1 hour time slots for each musician to perform during our portion of the
makers market.
●
Due to the time constraints of this event, all artist information and the timeline will
be sent to Mojgan Vahabzadeh mid March.
Describe the project’s artistic goals and its contribution to the artistic growth
●
Our project’s artistic goal is to make local artistry more accessible to communities
across Arizona. This goal ties into the artistic growth of our organization, Local
Trade AZ, because we cultivate a network of artists and makers around Arizona who
share their work in their community or in locations across the state. Our network
empowers local artists and makers to grow their small businesses by providing them
with a community of like-minded individuals so they may acquire the knowledge
and resources to grow their enterprise. These goals are both significant and
appropriate for Local Trade AZ because the sole, dedicated focus of the organization
is to drive awareness of local talent by organizing events to promote their arts. We
will evaluate the contribution this project has made to our programs by all of the
new makers businesses that have signed up for our event
2.
Ability of the project to serve the needs of the community, including potential
public exposure and public benefit, and efforts to reach artists from culturally
diverse groups
Local Trade AZ - Live! @ Murphy Park Music + Makers Market
Describe how this project serves the needs of the community, helps you reach new
participants, and/or deepens the experience of existing participants; what strategies
you will use to accomplish these goals and how you will evaluate the project’s success in
reaching these goals.
●
This project serves the needs of the community in three respects: Local Trade AZ’s
event in Glendale creates the opportunity for artisans from Glendale to gain public
exposure by displaying their works and wares to fellow members of their
community, which will in turn benefit the public. This event will provide the public
with a more diverse and wider array of art, as well as introduce them to new
artisans and makers that they otherwise would not have access to. Lastly, this event
will benefit the needs of the community thanks to a partnership Local Trade AZ
forged with Phoenix Rescue Mission and its Glendale Works chapter. Our
organization constantly seeks to build community through art and collaboration,
and we believe that every event we organize embodies this core principle.
●
The strategies we will use to accomplish these goals include marketing and
communications, collateral we will produce, media opportunities we will coordinate,
and communications materials produced by the local artisans participating in the
event.
●
The event will be promoted via paid and pro-bono social media marketing on
various platforms including Facebook, outreach to local TV and radio stations, and
our artisans’ own advertising efforts via various communication channels.
Managerial/administrative ability of the applicant organization to carry out arts
program and properly administer funds provided.
●
Local Trade AZ’s staff is experienced in organizing events and properly
administering public funds. This will be the organization’s fifth large-scale makers
market and ninth makers event, attesting to the successful execution of each event
coordinated by Local Trade AZ.
History of the organization in presenting, producing, or serving the arts.
●
Since Local Trade AZ’s founding in 2016, the vision of the organization is to make
local art and local makers more accessible to the public and foster a well established
community for the makers themselves. The organization achieves this vision by
organizing events that summon artisans from across the state of Arizona to share
their works in various communities. This serves the general public by increasing
exposure to local artists, and preserves the local art communities by encouraging
the public to support the artisans.

QUALIFICATION SUMMARY
Since Local Trade AZ’s founding in 2016, the vision of the organization has been to make local art and
local makers more accessible to the public and foster a well established community for the makers
themselves. The organization achieves this vision by organizing events that summon artisans from
