CALL TO ORDER Chair Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 2. NEW BUSINESS a. ACTION: Approval of the 2021 Arts Commission Goals as follows: Participate in the annual Arizona Arts Congress Host an artist open house The purpose of this networking and art showcase event is to allow local artists to learn about the percent for art program, and the skills/steps necessary to apply for temporary and permanent public art opportunities Attend City of Glendale Arts & Culture Program events such as the Plein Air Competition and performing arts events funded by city arts & culture grants Hold occasional monthly meetings at other venues and/or visit other art commissions around the Valley Serve on artist selection panels for city art projects Brochure for the Glendale public art Motioned by Commissioner Chris Kennedy, seconded by Commissioner Lorraine Zomok AYE: Chair Nicole Riley Vice Chair Derrell Barber Commissioner Jose Aguinaga Commissioner Chris Kennedy Commissioner Lorraine Zomok Passed 6. STAFF UPDATES Ms. Vahabzadeh reminded the Commissioners that the March 25th meeting will be for review and selection of the "We Are One" grant applications. Ms. Vahabzadeh stated the Commissioners should have received an email to sign up on the Submittable website for evaluating the applications online. A Submittable Zoom training session will be held on Wednesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. 7. COMMISSION COMMENTS There were no comments. 8. NEXT MEETING The Arts Commission will hold a Special Zoom Grant Selection Meeting on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. 9.
