NORTH
GENERAL BUILDING NOTES
1.  Where the highest point of a ceiling in a
room that opens to the hallway serving
the bedrooms exceeds that of the
opening into the hallway by 24" or more,
smoke detectors shall be installed in the
hallway and in the adjacent room.
Provide additional smoke detectors and
applicable.
2.  All exits shall be operable from the inside
without a key of special knowledge.
3.  Manually operated edge or surface
mounted bolts and surface bolts are
prohibited.
4.  Perpendicular distance from the
fireplace opening to combustible wall
shall conform to the I.C.C. / N.ER. report.
5.  Dampers shall be welded open.
6.  Hearth extensions: Decorative
non-combustible material shall be
installed over a thermal resistive barrier
which complies with evaluation report
and the manufacturer's written
instructions.
7.  All products lsited by I.C.C. / N.E.R.
numbers shall be installed per the report
and the manufacturer's written
instructions.  Substitutionn(s) for item(s)
listed shall also have I.C.C. approved
evaluation reports, or shall be approved
and listed by other national testing
agencies.
8.  All glass in hazardous locations and all
glass within 18" of the floor shall be safety
glass.
9.  Gas lines:
A. not allowed under structure.
B. not allowed under slab.
C. shall conform to I.PC. for material 
installation and testing.
10.  Propane Gas:
A. not permitted in basements
B. not permitted in pits.
11.  Provide 5/8" Type "x" gypsum board at
all walls and ceilings of garage and any
attached mechanical, shop, or storage
areas.
12.  Provide waterproof countertops at
kitchen, laundry room, and all
bathrooms.
13.  All hot water lines shall be completely
insulated with R-4 minimum insulation.

ELECTRICAL NOTES
1.  Approved smoke detectors shall be
permanently wired and interconnected
with battery backup.
2.  Where the highest point of a ceiling in a
room that opens to the hallway serving
the bedrooms exceeds that of the
opening into the hallway by 24" or more,
smoke detectors shall be installed in
hallway and in the adjacent room.
Provide additional smoke detectors as
applicable.
3.  Smoke detectors shall be installed at a
point centrally located in the corridor or
area giving access to each seperate
sleeping area and be a min. of 3'-0" from
duct opening.
4.  Locate smoke detectors for all sleeping
areas a min. of 3' from duct openings.
5.  Electrical contractor shall provide wiring
to the fire sprinkler system and bell as
required by code.
6.  Verify phone, stereo, intercom, vacuum
and security keypad mounting heights.
7.  All switches shall be 48" a.f.f. except: at
kitchen counters which shall be 46" a.f.f
and at bathroom counters which shall
be 42" a.f.f.
8.  All outlets shall be 12" a.f.f (u.o.n.).
9.  Outlet boxes in walls common to garage
and living areas shall be metal or U.L.
approved plastic.
10.  Duplex outlets shall be located:
12" to bottom of box typical, u.o.n.
40" to bottom of box @ baths
44" to bottom of box @ kitchen
11.  Ground conductor to be no. 4 B.C.
(ufer) located per n.e.c. (20'
minimum)embedded in bottom 3" of
concrete footing
