CALL TO ORDER Chair Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Nicole Riley, Chair Derrell Barber, Vice Chair Jose Aguinaga, Commissioner Kaitlyn Whittaker, Commissioner Lorraine Zomok, Commissioner Absent: Chris Kennedy, Commissioner Also Present: Mojgan Vahabzadeh, Arts & Culture Program Manager 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS No comments were received. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES a. ACTION: Arts Commission Minutes of December 9, 2021 Motion: Approve the Arts Commission Minutes of December 9, 2021 Motion by Vice Chair Derrell Barber, second by Commissioner Kaitlyn Whittaker AYE: Nicole Riley, Chair Derrell Barber, Vice Chair José Aguiñaga, Commissioner Kaitlyn Whittaker, Commissioner Lorraine Zomok, Commissioner Passed 5. NEW BUSINESS a. ACTION: FY 2022-23 Arts Projects Plan Motion: Approve the FY 2022-23 Arts Project Plan Motion by Commissioner Lorraine Zomok, second by Commissioner José Aguiñaga AYE: Nicole Riley, Chair Derrell Barber, Vice Chair José Aguiñaga, Commissioner Kaitlyn Whittaker, Commissioner Lorraine Zomok, Commissioner Passed b. ACTION: Glendale Arts Council Juried Fine Arts Exhibit Motion: Approve the purchase of Square Root #16 by artist John Geryak for $2,000 Motion by Commissioner Lorraine Zomok, second by Vice Chair Derrell Barber AYE: Nicole Riley, Chair Derrell Barber, Vice Chair José Aguiñaga, Commissioner Kaitlyn Whittaker, Commissioner Lorraine Zomok, Commissioner Passed 6. STAFF UPDATES Ms. Vahabzadeh announced that the Plein Air Competition will be held on Saturday, March 5th at the Folk and Heritage Festival at Sahuaro Ranch Park. Ms. Vahabzadeh also thanked Chair Riley and Vice Chair Barber for participating on the IN FLUX artist selection panel. 7. COMMISSION COMMENTS None. 8. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be held via Zoom on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. 9.
