CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Zomok called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Derrell Barber, Chair Lorraine Zomok, Vice Chair Jose Aguinaga, Commissioner Jean Hailey, Commissioner Nancy Lenox, Commissioner Nicole Riley, Commissioner Also Present: Mojgan Vahabzadeh, Arts & Culture Program Manager 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS If members of the public wish to speak on a matter concerning the Glendale Arts Commission that is not on the printed agenda, please complete a Public Comments Card and provide it to the designated staff person prior to the beginning of the meeting. Once your name is called by the Chairperson, please proceed to the podium and state your name and address for the record. Please limit your comments to a period of three minutes or less. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES a. NEW BUSINESS a. ACTION: The FY 2022-2023 Performing Arts Grants Motion: To approve funding of the following applicants for the FY 2022-23 Performing Arts Grants: Arizona Broadway Theatre Arizona Swing Kings Ballet Arizona Caribbean Cruisers Childsplay Driftwood Quintet Focus Comic Jeremy Muller Mill Ave Chamber Players Moorish Manor Publishing, Management, and Moor Patrick Martin Phoenix Conservatory of Music Phoenix Theatre Company ProMusica Red Rock Crossing Band Red Rock Music Festival Rising Youth Theatre Sacred G’s Sifiso Shibambo Motioned by Commissioner Nicole Riley, seconded by Commissioner Nancy Lenox AYE: Chair Derrell Barber Vice Chair Lorraine Zomok Commissioner Jose Aguinaga Commissioner Jean Hailey Commissioner Nancy Lenox Commissioner Nicole Riley Passed 6. STAFF UPDATES Ms. Vahabzadeh confirmed the Commission’s consensus to move forward in funding support for a live interactive painting project by artist Tim Ham for the opening night of the Live @ Murphy Park Series for the month of October 2022. Ms. Vahabzadeh also provided information about an upcoming arts and culture festival for winter 2023 and confirmed the Commission's consensus to move forward in planning for this project. 7. COMMISSION COMMENTS There were no comments. 8. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be held on September 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in person or by Zoom. 9.
