Project Background and Need
•
Loop 101 is a vital transportation corridor 
•
Population growth is increasing traffic congestion
•
ADOT completed a study in 2021
– Additional lanes were recommended

Major Project Elements
•
Widen Loop 101 for additional GP 
lanes in each direction
•
Modify exit/entrance ramps
•
Widen frontage roads approaching 
crossroads
•
Widen bridges over 51st,  35th, and 
31st Ave
•
Improve 75th Ave interchange
•
Convert the I-17 / SR 101 ramp from 
1-lane to 2-lanes

Additional Project Elements
•
Construct retaining, noise, and 
screen walls
•
Resurface freeway pavement 
(diamond grinding)
•
Place freeway signing and striping
•
Install FMS elements
•
Convert freeway and ramp lighting 
to LED
•
Restore landscaping and irrigation

Loop 101 Improvements: 63rd - 55th Avenue

Loop 101 Improvements: 51st - 43rd Avenue

Loop 101 Improvements: 43rd - 31st Avenue

Loop 101 Improvements: 31st - 19th Avenue

75th Avenue Crossroad Improvements
• Add third left turn lane from SB 75th Ave to EB Loop 101
• Modify existing 75th Ave median islands, traffic signals, signing and pavement markings
• Maintain pedestrian and bike access on existing 75th Ave sidewalks

Schedule

Project is currently in final design phase (95% complete)
•
Anticipated construction start in fall 2024
•
Estimated construction duration is 30 months

During Construction
• Freeway traffic maintained except for weekend and night time 
closures.
• No freeway closures during special events or holidays.
• Ramp closures and lane restrictions on cross streets and 
frontage roads.
• Notifications and additional information will occur prior to and
