TITLE:  Board, Commission and Committee Goal Setting Process 
PURPOSE:  Establish a uniform process for the annual goal setting process for all 
boards, commissions and committees. 
GOVERNING AUTHORITY:  Glendale City Code, Chapter 2, Article VIII 
EXCEPTIONS:  None 
 
PROCEDURE  
 
City Council appoints new members or reappoints current members of all boards, 
commissions and committees at a meeting in January.  At the next board or commission 
meeting held after the (re)appointments are made by Council, the staff liaison shall 
place an item on the board, commission or committee’s agenda for discussion and 
approval of the goals it has or issues it would like to consider for the upcoming year.   
 
An example of the title of an item for a meeting in February 2020, would be: 
 
GOAL SETTING AND TOPICS OF DISCUSSION FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR 
 
The staff liaison will forward the approved goals and topics of discussion to the City 
Clerk.   
 
The City Clerk will forward the approved goals and topics of discussion for each board, 
commission or committee to the Mayor and Council.
