D R A F T MINUTES LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD GLENDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY 5959 W. BROWN ST. GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85302 FEBRUARY 14, 2024 6:00P.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. ROLL CALL Present: Diane Kocur, Chair Theresa Fowler, Vice Chair Cody Bro, Board Member April Greer, Board Member Gary Johnson, Board Member Meegan Tosh, Board Member Thomas Varela, Board Member 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS None. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES a. Library Advisory Board Minutes of January 10, 2024. Board Member Bro moved, Board Member Tosh made the second, to approve the January 10, 2024, Library Advisory Board minutes as written. Motion carried 6 – 0. 5. NEW BUSINESS a. GLENDALE MAIN PUBLIC LIBRARY TOUR Ms. Ferro relayed a few highlights of the Glendale Main Public Library. Ms. Ferro announced that the meeting paused at 6:10 p.m. for Ms. Jenson-Benjamin to conduct a tour of the library. The library tour was concluded, and Vice Chair Fowler reconvened the meeting at 6:52 p.m. 7. CHIEF LIBRARIAN UPDATE a. Ms. Ferro reported the following: Mr. Michael Beck is no longer with the City of Glendale and is the Scottsdale Library Director. Due to this change, interim roles have been assigned: Interim Chief Librarian: Dawn Ferro Interim Library Administrator-Collection Development: Ms. Kristin Fletcher-Spear Interim Library Administrator-Branch Operations: Ms. Sarah Kaufman Interim Librarian-Library Loans: Kearsten LaBrozzi since Ms. Chris O’Hara retired on January 19, 2024. Ms. Ferro reported the following events: The Spring Training Reading Academy, in partnership with Camelback Ranch, is taking place February 5th through March 10th. It is for kids, teens, and adults. There are weekly entries for Dodgers/White Sox Spring Training tickets and there are exciting grand prizes as well. The Main Library atrium lighting project is in progress. The Main Library interior lighting will be converted to LED. The exterior and parking lot lights have all been converted to LED. 8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS None. 9. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Library Advisory Board will be held on March 13, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., in the Large Meeting Room of the Main Library, located at 5959 W. Brown St., Glendale, Arizona, 85302. 10. ADJOURNMENT Board Member Tosh moved, Board Member Bro made the second, to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Motion carried 6 – 0.
