GLENDALE AVE. 1ST FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM 103 GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85307 APRIL 24, 2024 9:30 A.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER THE LOCAL FIRE BOARD Chair Charles Erickson called the meeting to order at 9:30a.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Charles Erickson, Chair Jerry Weiers, Mayor Kyle Borg, Board Member Anthony Love, Board Member Absent: Kevin Phelps, Board Member Also Present: Jim Brown, Board Secretary and Director of Human Resources & Risk Mgmt. Vicki Moss, Assistant Director of Human Resources & Risk Mgmt. Mike Hamblin, Assistant City Attorney Police Board Member Justin Harris, Police Sergeant Police Board Member Mitchell Ervin, Police Officer Gary Benson, Assistant Fire Chief John Davidge, Police Sergeant Charlotte Beadles, HR Benefits Analyst Erik Elias, Management Analyst Dolly Alexander, Manager, Benefits Attendees: James Saylor, Former Police Officer (via telephone conferencing) Cynthia Kelley, Board Attorney (via telephone conferencing) 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizens present 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Motioned by Mayor Jerry Weiers, seconded by Board Member Anthony Love The Board voted to approve the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System - Local Fire Board Minutes of March 27, 2024. AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Board Member Anthony Love Passed A. Public Safety Personnel Retirement System - Local Fire Board Minutes of March 27, 2024. 5. NEW BUSINESS There is no new business for open session. 6. EXECUTIVE SESSION Upon a public majority vote of a quorum of the Local Police Board, the Board may hold an executive session, which will not be open to the public, regarding any item listed on the agenda but only for the following purposes: (i) discussion or consideration of personnel matters (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(1)); (ii) discussion or consideration of records exempt by law from public inspection (A.R.S.§38-431.03(A)(2)); iii) discussion or consultation for legal advice with the Board's attorney (A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(3)); Motioned by Mayor Jerry Weiers, seconded by Board Member Anthony Love The Board voted to go into Executive Session at 9:31 a.m. All attendees that are not Board members or supporting staff exited the conference room prior to the start of Executive Session. AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Board Member Anthony Love Passed A. The Board reviewed and discussed the Accidental Disability Application submitted by Retired Fire Battalion Chief Eric Ekert. 7. ADJOURN EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION Motioned by Mayor Jerry Weiers, seconded by Board Member Anthony Love The Board voted to adjourn Executive Session at 9:34 a.m. and reconvened in open session. CONSIDERATION OF EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS A. The Board acknowledged receipt of the Application for Accidental Disability Retirement submitted by Retired Fire Battalion Chief Eric Ekert and tabled pending receipt of medical documentation. BOARD COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS There were no Board comments or suggestions. 10. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Fire Board will be held on May 22, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., at the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center 1st Floor Conference Room 103, 11550 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale, AZ 85307. 11.
