GLENDALE AVE. 1st FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM 103 GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85307 JUNE 26, 2024 9:30 A.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER THE LOCAL FIRE BOARD Chair Charles Erickson called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Charles Erickson, Chair Jerry Weiers, Mayor Kyle Borg, Board Member Anthony Love, Board Member Absent: Kevin Phelps, Board Member Also Present: Jim Brown, Board Secretary and Director of Human Resources & Risk Mgmt. Vicki Moss, Assistant Director of Human Resources & Risk Mgmt. Mike Hamblin, Assistant City Attorney Police Board Member Mitchell Ervin, Police Officer Gary Benson, Assistant Fire Chief Charlotte Beadles, HR Benefits Analyst Erik Elias, Management Analyst Dolly Alexander, Manager, Benefits Attendees: Cynthia Kelley, Board Attorney Matthew Morales, Fire Fighter Eric Eckert, Retired Battalion Chief (via Telephone) 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizens present. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Motioned by Board Member Anthony Love, seconded by Board Member Kyle Borg The Board voted to approve the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System - Local Fire Board minutes of April 24, 2024. AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Board Member Anthony Love Passed A. Public Safety Personnel Retirement System - Local Fire Board Minutes of April 24, 2024. 5. NEW BUSINESS There is no new business for open session. 6. EXECUTIVE SESSION Upon a public majority vote of a quorum of the Local Fire Board, the Board may hold an executive session, which will not be open to the public, regarding any item listed on the agenda but only for the following purposes: (i) discussion or consideration of personnel matters (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(1)); (ii) discussion or consideration of records exempt by law from public inspection (A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(2)); (iii) discussion or consultation for legal advice with the Board attorneys (A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(3)); Motioned by Board Member Anthony Love, seconded by Board Member Kyle Borg The Board voted to go into Executive Session at 9:32 a.m. All attendees that were not Board Members or supporting staff exited the conference room prior to the start of the Executive Session. ADJOURN EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION Motioned by Board Member Anthony Love, seconded by Board Member Kyle Borg The Board voted to adjourn Executive Session at 10:03 a.m. and reconvened in open session. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE VOTE ON EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS A. The Board voted to approve the Accidental Disability Retirement submitted by firefighter Matthew Morales. Motioned by Board Member Kyle Borg, seconded by Board Member Anthony Love AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Board Member Anthony Love Passed B. The Board discussed the Application for Accidental Disability Retirement submitted by Retired Battalion Chief Eric Eckert and voted to order an appropriate Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) based on the medical information provided. Motioned by Board Member Anthony Love, seconded by Board Member Kyle Borg AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Board Member Anthony Love Passed C. The Board voted to approve the admission of four (4) New Fire Personnel into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) with any pre-existing conditions noted on the Pre-Existing Conditions Reports: Blake Martin Colby Siebert Francisco Gonzalez Joshua Wright Motioned by Mayor Jerry Weiers, seconded by Board Member Anthony Love AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Board Member Anthony Love Passed 9. BOARD COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS There were no Board comments or suggestions. 10. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Fire Board will be held on July 24, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., at the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center 1st Floor Conference Room, 103, 11550 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale, Arizona, 85307. 11.
