CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Nancy Lenox called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS No public comments. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES a. Action: Arts Commission Minutes of May 21, 2024. NEW BUSINESS a. Information: Update on Ballet Under the Stars Event Chris Taylor gave an information update on Ballet Under the Stars, including logistics and Ballet Arizona’s current outreach efforts. b. Information: Update on Arts and Culture Master Plan Mr. Sabillon provided an update on the logistics of the Arts and Culture Master Plan, including City Council review, and revisions. c. Action: Recommendation of Performing Arts Grants Allocation of Funds Mr. Sabillon began with an update to the Glendale Community College Performing Arts Center. Chris Taylor gave an overview of the Performing Arts Grants applicants, including the Commissioners initial scoring and ranking of the applicants. The Commissioners deliberated over the twenty-six applicants, and decided to award funds to fifteen applicants, totaling $59,843 in monies. MOTION: To approve $4,000 in grant funds to The Sacred G’s at Glendale Glitters. Motioned by Vice Chair James Smith, seconded by Commissioner Derrell Barber. COMMISSION COMMENTS Commissioner Jose Aguinaga commented on the improved process from last year regarding approval of the Performing Arts Grants. 8. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., in the Vault Conference Room at the Glendale Civic Center Annex, 5752 W. Glenn Drive, Glendale, Arizona, 85301. 9. ADJOURNMENT Motion: To adjourn the Arts Commission meeting of June 18, 2024 at 7:45 P.M.
