3. CITIZEN COMMENTS

July 27, 2024

Dear Members of the Glendale Art Commission,

I'm writing to propose the purchase of a unique COLORME canvas created with your
community

in the spring of 2023. This collaborative art piece proudly showcases Glendale's distinctive 'G'
logo and mission statement: "The City of Glendale delivers exceptional customer service
through precision execution and innovative leadership." Surrounding the 'G' in bold letters are
the words "Prosperous, Rich Culture, Community, Safe," reflecting the city's core values.

As a teaching artist in SAACA's pool, | had the privilege of participating in this community
event.

While SAACA provides a modest stipend for supplies and time, my business model also
involves offering completed pieces for sale. This approach creates a mutually beneficial
situation for artists and the public, supporting the vital role of arts in our communities.

What makes this piece particularly special is its collaborative nature. Many event attendees
contributed to the painting, making it a true reflection of Glendale's community spirit. | believe
these participants would be thrilled to see their collective work displayed publicly.

This canvas serves as more than just a beautiful piece of art. It's a lasting memento of
community creativity and engagement, capturing a moment in time when Glendale's residents
came together to express their shared values and vision for their city.

Moreover, this artwork offers an additional opportunity to recognize and appreciate the city's
hardworking employees. High-quality giclee reproductions of the piece could be created as
beautiful gifts, promotional items, or thank-you cards for staff. These reproductions would serve
as daily reminders of the city's values and the community's appreciation for their dedicated
service.

By voting YES to purchase this painting, you'll be making a statement about the importance of
community involvement, artistic expression, and civic pride. This unique art piece deserves to
be prominently displayed, serving as a daily reminder of Glendale's commitment to its mission
and values.

Thank you for your consideration and your ongoing support of the arts in Glendale. | believe
this

purchase would be a valuable addition to the city's public art collection, continuing to inspire
and

engage residents, visitors, and city employees for years to come.

| appreciate your time and attention to this matter, and | look forward to your decision.

Thank you,

Debra Lee Murrow
