APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
a.
Action: Arts Commission Minutes of November 19, 2024.
MOTION:  To approve the Arts Commission minutes of November 19, 2024, with a
correction to Commissioner Jose Aguinaga’s name located in section 4A. The
misspelling has since been corrected.
Motioned by Commissioner Anne Marie Chaney, seconded by Commissioner Derrell
Barber.

NEW BUSINESS
a.
Information: Update on Citizen Comment
Chris Taylor gave information on a request to purchase an art piece for possible
acquisition into the Portable Art Collection. Chris updated the Commission on their
option to consider purchasing the work, rejecting the work, or delay consideration up
to, but not limited to February 18, 2025.
After asking several questions about the work, the Commission decided to delay
consideration until the January 7th, 2025 Arts Commission meeting. The Commission
requested that preparations be made to move to the possible accessioning of the
piece via the City of Glendale accession process, which Chris Taylor will be prepared
to commence if the Commission so decides.
b.
Information: Update on Current Projects
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on the upcoming Downtown Glendale Arts and
Culture Fest, scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025. The update included themes
of the event, logistics, and potential opportunities for the Commission to be involved,
if they wish.
c.
Information: Update on Current Projects
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on the needed appropriation of approximately
$85,000 in funding to be spent on Arts and Culture related activities, to be spent
before June 30, 2025. Mr. Taylor updated the Commission on several potential
projects that have been researched for this potential funding. The Commission
requested that each of the potential projects be re-examined at the January 7, 2025
Arts Commission meeting. Mr. Taylor will provide updated information on each project
at that time.
6.
STAFF REPORTS
Mr. Trent Dutry introduced himself to the Arts Commission, and provided a brief
background on himself and his experiences. Mr. Dutry elaborated on his collaborative
vision for Downtown Glendale development upon request from members of the Arts
Commission.

COMMISSION COMMENTS
Commissioner Jose Aguinaga thanked the Commission for the opportunity to serve
the Arts Commission during his term.
Vice Chair James Smith expressed his thanks to all Commissioners who continue to
serve the Arts Commission, and look forward to collaborations in 2025 with Mr. Dutry.

The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be on Tuesday, January
7th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m., in the Fruit Packing Shed at Sahuaro Ranch Park. 9802 59th Ave,
Glendale, Arizona 85302.
