GLENDALE AVE. 1st FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM 103 GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85307 JANUARY 22, 2025 9:30 A.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER THE LOCAL FIRE BOARD Chair Charles Erickson called the meeting to order at 10:52 a.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Charles Erickson, Chair Jerry Weiers, Mayor Kyle Borg, Board Member Absent: Anthony Love, Board Member Kevin Phelps, Board Member Also Present: Jim Brown, Human Resources Director Vicki Moss, Assistant Human Resources Director Michael Hamblin, Assistant City Attorney Gary Benson, Assistant Fire Chief Dolly Alexander, Benefits Manager Charlotte Beadles, HR Benefits Analyst Erik Elias, Management Analyst 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizens present. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Motioned by Mayor Jerry Weiers, seconded by Board Member Kyle Borg The Board voted to approve the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System - Local Fire Board minutes of August 28, 2024. AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Passed A. Public Safety Personnel Retirement System - Local Fire Board Minutes of August 28,2024. 5. NEW BUSINESS There is no new business for open session. 6. EXECUTIVE SESSION Upon a public majority vote of a quorum of the joint session of the Local Fire Board, the Board may hold an executive session, which will not be open to the public, regarding any item listed on the agenda, but only for the following purposes: (i) discussion or consideration of personnel matters (A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(1)); (ii) discussion or consideration of records exempt by law from public inspection (A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(2)); (iii) discussion or consultation for legal advice with the Board's attorneys (A.R.S.§38-431.03(A)(3)); Motioned by Board Member Kyle Borg, seconded by Mayor Jerry Weiers The Board voted to go into Executive Session at 10:54 a.m. All attendees that were not Board Members or supporting staff exited the conference room prior to the start of the Executive Session. The Board reviewed Medical Evaluations for seven (7) new City of Glendale Fire Personnel: Joshua Barnes William Gordon Kyle Hutcheson Derek Labounty Zander Lee Zachary Lime Christian Valverde 7. ADJOURN EXECUTIVE SESSION AND RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION Motioned by Board Member Kyle Borg, seconded by Mayor Jerry Weiers The Board voted to adjourn Executive Session at 10:55 a.m. and reconvened in open session. Attendees who had exited the conference room were invited back in. AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Passed 8. CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE VOTE ON EXECUTIVE SESSION ITEMS A. The Board voted to approve the admission of seven (7) new Fire Personnel into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) with any pre-existing conditions noted on the Pre-Existing Conditions Report: Joshua Barnes William Gordon Kyle Hutcheson Derek Labounty Zander Lee Zachary Lime Christian Valverde Motioned by Board Member Kyle Borg, seconded by Mayor Jerry Weiers AYE: Chair Charles Erickson Mayor Jerry Weiers Board Member Kyle Borg Passed 9. BOARD COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS There were no Board comments or suggestions. 10. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Local Fire Board will be held on February 26, 2025 at 9:30 a.m., at the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center, 1st Floor Conference Room, 103, 11550 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale, Arizona, 85307. 11.
