APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
a.
Action: Arts Commission Minutes of April 15, 2025.
MOTION:  To approve the Arts Commission minutes of April 15, 2025, with a modifier
to change the month of the minutes from March (incorrect) to April (correct).
Motioned by Vice-Chair Nancy Lenox, seconded by Commissioner Lizbeth Feria.

NEW BUSINESS
a.
Action: Approval of $10,000 from the Municipal Arts Fund for an Honorarium for
the Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project.
Chris Taylor provided a recap of the process for awarding honorariums for the
Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project, including an adjustment to the honorariums
based on the conversations and approvals of the DCRP Selection Committee for the
three semi-finalists for the project.
MOTION:  To approve $10,000 from the Municipal Arts Fund for an Honorarium for
the Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project.

Action: Approval of three semi-finalists for the Contractor for the Southern Wall
Art Piece for the Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project.
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on the three semi-finalists for the Southern Wall
Art Project, as selected by the DCRP Selection Panel, including work samples and
background information about the semi-finalists.
MOTION:  To approve Cliff Garten Studio, Barbara G., and Colors and Shapes as the
Semi-Finalists for the Southern Wall Art Piece for the Downtown Campus
Reinvestment Project.
Motioned by Commissioner Anne Marie Chaney, seconded by Commissioner Lizbeth
Feria.

Information: Update on potential collaboration project with West Valley Arts
Council.
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on a potential project involving internal City of
Glendale Employees and their immediate families. The project would involve free art
classes for employees, an inter-departmental project, and an individual artist
showcase. The event would be in collaboration with the West Valley Arts Council.
Included in the information were potential dates, and a not-to-exceed amount of
$20,000 for the project.

Information: Update on Downtown Mural Campaign.
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on the current progress of the Downtown Mural
Campaign. Concept renderings of the pilot location for the project were submitted to
the Commission for their input. A unanimous consensus was reached on one of the
concept renderings.
e.
Information: Update on Performing Arts Grant Program.
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on the status of the Performing Arts Grant
program, including current submissions, and a reminder for the awarding of the Grants
at the June 17, 2025 Arts Commission Meeting.
f.
Information: Update on 2025 Arts and Culture Fest.
Chris Taylor updated the Commission on an Arizona Travel Award that was awarded
to the City of Glendale for the Downtown Glendale Arts and Culture Fest event back in
February of 2025.
6.
STAFF REPORTS
Chris Taylor commented on the possibility of an Arts Commissioner joining the
Commission, pending approval from City Council. The Commissioner would be from
the Ocotillo district.
Chris Taylor informed the Commission that Glendale City Council, in conjunction with
the City Clerk’s office, would determine on the status of the citizen comment in March
regarding a potential youth member of the Arts Commission.

The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be on Tuesday, June
17th, 2025 at 6:00 p.m., at the Vault Conference Room at the Civic Center Annex. 5752
