DRAFT MINUTES COMMISSION ON DIVERSE CULTURES 5970 W. BROWN ST. GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85302 OCTOBER 8, 2025 6:00 P.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Richard Henrrick called the meeting to order. Former Chair Nellie Andrade resigned from the board on August 25, 2025. Commissioner Reka Vicsacsan resigned from the Commission on September 9, 2025. Chrioni Turner was appointed to the commission August 27, 2025. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Chrioni Turner, Commissioner Richard Henrick, Vice Chair Tanner Contreras-Russell, Commissioner Sylvia Acosta, Commissioner Absent: Robert Escobedo, Commissioner Also Present: Tabitha Perry, ADA Officer LeJeune Boone, HRBP 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS If citizens wish to speak on a matter concerning the Commission on Diverse Cultures that is not on the printed agenda, please complete a Citizen Comments Card and provide it to the designated staff person prior to the beginning of the meeting. Once your name is called by the Chairperson, please proceed to the podium and state your name and address for the record. Please limit your comments to a period of three minutes or less. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES a. Commission on Diverse Cultures approved the Meeting Minutes of August 13, 2025. A motion was made by Commissioner Tanner Contreras-Russell, seconded by Vice Chair Richard Henrick AYE: Commissioner Chrioni Turner Vice Chair Richard Henrick Commissioner Tanner Contreras-Russell Commissioner Sylvia Acosta Passed 5. NEW BUSINESS a. Chair and Vice Chair Recommendations for 2026. The commission selected Tanner Contreras-Russell as the Chair and re-elected Richard Henrick, as the Vice Chair. A motion was made by Vice Chair Richard Henrick, seconded by Commissioner Tanner Contreras-Russell AYE: Commissioner Chrioni Turner Vice Chair Richard Henrick Commissioner Tanner Contreras-Russell Commissioner Sylvia Acosta Passed b. Strategy and Goals c. Community Event Idea(s) 6. STAFF REPORTS a. This report allows the Staff to update the Commission. The Commission is prohibited from discussing or acting on any of the items presented by the Staff since they are not itemized on the Commission on Diverse Cultures agenda. 7. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS 8. NEXT MEETING The next regular meeting of the Commission on Diverse Cultures will be held on November 12, 2025 at 6:00 p.m., at the Glendale Adult Center, 5970 W.
