1. CALL TO ORDER

Chair James Smith called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM.

2. ROLL CALL

4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

a. Arts Commission Minutes of December 16th, 2025.

Arts Commission minutes. (motion was made by Vice-Chair Nancy Lenox)

NEW BUSINESS

Action: Goal Setting and Topics of Discussion for the Upcoming Year

The 2026 goals for the Commission were decided as follows:

- Each Commissioner to attend and/or participate in one City of Glendale Event in 2026.
(either Arts and Culture, Library, Dedication, or Special Event)

- Commissioners would continue to discuss and support beautification projects for the City.
(examples: Downtown Historical Mural Campaign, Traffic Signal Box Cabinets, Wayfinding
Upgrades)

- Commission will tour the Downtown Campus in prep for the moving of the City's Portable Art
Collection into the building, including a strategic plan for display of art.

Motioned by Commissioner Anne Marie Chaney, seconded by Member Elizabeth
Medina to recommend approval of the Commission Goals for Calendar Year 2026, as
discussed.

Action: Recommendation of FY 27 Performing Arts Grant Guidelines.

Chris Taylor presented the Commission with the Performing Arts Grant Guidelines for FY 27
for their approval, in keeping with the process for applicants to apply for the City of Glendale's
Performing Arts Grant Program. No changes or alterations were recommended from the FY
26 guidelines.

Motioned by Member Lizbeth Feria, to approve the FY 27 Performing Arts Grant
Guidelines. (motion was seconded by Vice Chair Nancy Lenox)

Information: Selection of Finalists and Alternates for the Downtown Historical Mural Campaign.
The Commission selected a finalist, as well as an alternate, for a mural to be fabricated at
both the Pink House Boutique, and Cubanitas restaurant in Downtown Glendale, in keeping
with the City's Downtown Historical Mural Campaign.

Information: Update on City Point Entry Wayfinding, and Downtown Glendale Wayfinding.
Chris Taylor presented the Commission with a potential project for their consideration,
including upgrading Welcome to Glendale Wayfinding Signage throughout various access
points into the City, as well as into Downtown Glendale. The Commission responded
favorably to both Wayfinding projects, and requested a feasibility study on a strategic plan for
upgrades.

e. Information: Update on America 250 Co-Op with the City of Glendale's Library Services
Division.
Chris Taylor presented the Commission with potential ideas for a cooperative series of
projects with the Library Services Division in honor of America's 250th celebration. The
Commission responded favorably to cooperating with Library Services to create a series of
indoor events to take place at the Main Library Auditorium during June and July of 2026.

f. Information: Updates to Arts and Culture Fest 2026.
Holly Garner updated the Arts Commission to the Downtown Glendale Arts and Culture Fest,
scheduled for Saturday, January 31st, 2026. Included were upgrades and enhancements from
the 2025 iteration.

6. STAFF REPORTS
The Office of Arts and Culture, Economic Development, and City Clerk recognized and
thanked Commissioners Derrell Barber and Nancy Lenox for their service.

7. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Commissioner Derrell Barber thanked the Commission for their collaborative efforts during her
tenure.

8. NEXT MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be held on Tuesday, February
17th at 6:00 p.m., in the Vault Conference Room, at the Glendale Civic Center Annex. 5752
W. Glenn Drive, Glendale, Arizona, 85301.

9. ADJOURNMENT

Motioned by Commissioner Anne Marie Chaney, seconded by Member Lizbeth Feria to
adjourn the January 20, 2026 Arts Commission meeting at 7:19 PM.
